History
Davie County took over ambulance operation from C&M Ambulance service in July of 1969. The original EMT's were Supervisor Lonnie Tutterow, Luther Ashley, Walter Carter & Leo Hamilton. The original base for the service was in the courthouse below the sheriffs dept. In around march of 1975 the service moved to the hospital for it's new base. In those days there was no the 911 system of today citizens needing a ambulance had to dial a seven digit number.
S
In March of 1980 the county implemented a the EMT-Intermediate program which allowed personnel to start IV's and give a limited amount of medications. In Nov 1984 the service moved again to its current base of operations beside the hospital.
S
In 1987 the service upgraded it's level of care by training it's personnel in the EMT-Advanced Intermediate program. This allowed personnel to administer cardiac medications, monitor cardiac rhythms and provide advanced airway techniques.
By the 1990's Davie County EMS was making great strides to enhance the level of care offered to the citizens.
